I took a flight from London on 12/30th via Istanbul,Turky and arrived colombo, Sri Lanka on 31st evening. And Turkish Airline lounge at Istanbul was awesome, probably the best and biggest lounge among star alliance gold lounges all over the world. I thought it was under construction when I visited Istanbul about a year ago. my next flight was 3AM so I took a shower and slept on the couch in lounge.
１２月３０日にロンドンに別れを告げて、コロンボ行きのフライトに乗り込みました。イスタンブール経由だったのですが、ここのトルコ航空のラウンジが素晴らしかった。多分スターアライアンスゴールドメンバーで入れるラウンジとしては世界で一番良くかつ大きいラウンジかと思います。多分1年前にイスタンブールに来た時は工事中だったと思います。コロンボへのフライトは午前３時だったのでシャワー浴びてこのままラウンジで寝ました。

My star alliance gold membership will expire in this January, I will miss those lounge privilege. The flight arrived colombo in the evening, I was picked up in the airport by reserved guest house van, It will be 3 hours ride from airport. When I arrived Hikkaduwa, beach was packed with people and new years party was already on. Next day, beach was full of trashes but it will be cleaned in one day. Pricing-wise, you can NOT expect south-east asia pricing in Hikkaduwa area. It is about the same as Japan pricing, e.g. Hamburger eat-out $6-10,guest house accommodation $30-80/day. I met many Japanese surfers in Hikkaduwa, probably more than any other places in this trip.
スターアライアンスゴールドメンバーもこの１月で終わっちゃうので今後しばらく縁ないなぁと思うと寂しくなりました。コロンボに夕方について、予約しておいたゲストハウスのバンに乗り３時間かけてゲストハウスへ。ヒッカドゥアに到着すると既にニューイヤーズパーティーでビーチは人だらけ。次の日はビーチはゴミだらけだったけど、１日で綺麗に掃除されていました。 ヒッカドゥアは物価に関しては、東南アジアプライスかと思ってたら、全然日本とかわらないか、日本よりも高いくらいの値段でした。外食も６００円ー１２００円くらいハンバーガーでもするし、ゲストハウスもビーチ沿いだと３０００円ー９０００円/day くらいでしょうか。
しかしながら久しぶりにウェットスーツを脱いで、ボードショーツでサーフィンするのは気持ち良い。ポイントまで歩いて３分くらいなので気軽にいつでも入れるし最高です。そして日本人サーファーにもたくさん会いました。これまでで一番たくさんの日本人サーファーにあったかも。

After surf smothie time, アフターサーフ スムージタイム ゆったりと時間が流れます
Hikkaduwa main break is A frame fun wave, hollow but easy to take-off not unless on-shore wind blown. Sometimes it creates barrels for right break, you can ride longer for left but it does not create barrel. When waves are small, it will be crowded. We hired a driver one time and surfed at Melissa and Midigama.
ヒッカドゥアはAフレームのファンウェーブでした。 掘れてるけどテイクオフは簡単。ただし、オンショアがふいた時はテイクオフが難しいコンディションになります。ライト方向へはバレルになる時もありました。レフトの方が長く乗れるけどバレルにはなりません。Hikkaduwa main 以外にも一度ドライバーを使ってメリッサとミディガマと呼ばれるポイントにも行きました。

Last day in Hikkaduwa, I got lucky with swell. it was the best swell during my time there. Only 5 people in the water.Happy ending swell! 最後の日は、今回の滞在中で一番大きなスウェルが入ってきてハッピーエンディング かなりサイズがあったので５人しか入ってなかった。
one year surf trip completely changed my body. Hopefully I can keep myself in a good shape.
一年間のサーフトリップで体が大幅に変わりました。帰国後の維持はかなり難しいと思いますが….

13 month, 20 countries, 6 rental cars, one blog, many dickheads, great people and countless pumping waves. All those combination including dickheads made my trip something memorable so I would like to appreciate all the people I met through the trip. My endless summer has come to an end. Once in a life time surf trip, I am really glad that I did it.
１３ヶ月、２０ヶ国、６つのレンタカーとひとつのブログの旅はこうして終わりを告げました。本当にクソみたいな人から、素晴らしい人までたくさんの出会いと炸裂した波に恵まれ、一生忘れられない旅となりました。本当にこの旅に出て良かった。
