I am back in Uluwatu and ended up breaking my board at Dreamland. On that day, I surfed at Uluwatu in the morning 6,7ft with no problem but I broke my board in the afternoon session in dreamland 3-5ft.
I have been traveling with this Simon Andersen XFC 6.2 and it has been my all time favorite board for best quality waves. I became a fan of Simon Andersen since I visited Surf Museum in California as he did not patent anything for his invention of Thruster system. But, yet to encourage others to use his Thruster system to improve their surfing. (refer to this entry) so I believe that if it were not for him, contemporary surfing should not be the same today.
ウルワツに戻りました。その日もウルワツで朝サーフィンして午後ドリームランドで入ってビッグセット一発でやられてしまいました。
世界中を一緒に旅してきたSimon Andersen XFC 6.2 まさにここぞという場合の勝負板として活躍してきてくれました。Simon Andersenはカリフォルニアのサーフミュージアムでサイモンが発明したトライフィンの特許を取らなかったこと、寧ろ他のサーファーにどんどん使用するように勧めていたということで近代サーフィンの進歩に大きく貢献したサーファーであり、個人的にすごくファンです。 サーフミュージアムのエントリはこちらを参照
その愛しのサイモンちゃんが見ての通り、がっつりやられてしまいました。ここまでポッキリいったのは初めての経験。 修理したかったのですが、ストリンガーが壊れてしまっている以上以前のような性能はもう望めないということだったので泣く泣く諦めました。Dingだらけですが、それぞれのdingに思い出があり、これはメキシコ、これはニカラグア等、最終的に日本に持って帰って最後は部屋にでも飾ろうと思っていたのですが残念ながらここでお別れすることにしました。
That my lovely Simon Andersen got broken in half as below pic. I wanted to get it fixed as I was thinking about bringing the board back to Japan as a token of my around the world surf trip. I got so much memories in this board even though it is beaten up with many dings but I can remember each dings of where and how I got such as this one in Mexico, that one in Nicaragua.
However, once stringer got completely broken, it will never be the same. So I reluctantly gave up this board and bought new one which is LOST
