Here comes POPOYO surfing. For japanese, you may not know this that here in Nicaragua got 300 days out of 365 offshore wind because of the wind blown from nicaragua lake.
さていよいよポポヨでのサーフィン 日本人だと知らない人も多いと思うのですがここニカラグアはニカラグア湖から吹き付ける風のおかげで年間300日オフショアが吹いています。
Red pin is POPOYO, Wind from Nicaragua Lake creates offshore wind for pacific coast. Therefore, you do not have to be an early bird like when you surf in Japan. I am a lazy ass, so it is good for me.
During a day, it gets some sideshore wind and not onshore.
As expected, POPOYO gets really powerful and heavy when it gets good condition.
The bottom is rocky and uneven. When it gets big, surfing at low tide can be dangerous and many close-out. As a matter of fact, I saw some people surfing at low tide and got injured.
I felt midtide is the best tide in POPOYO. I got wiped out and broke leash too.

早起きしなくて良いので怠け者の自分にはピッタリです 笑 （勿論昼にはサイドショアが入る事もあります）
思っていたとおり POPOYO ポポヨは本領を発揮した時はスーパーパワフル＆ヘビー
ボトムはロックで凸凹 サイズがある時はロータイド時はかなり危ないです。怪我してた人も多かった。あとサイズがあるとロータイドだとクローズアウトが多かった印象 自分としてはミッドタイドがベストタイドでした。
そして自分もセットでワイプアウトしてリーシュ切れちゃいました。
On that day, It was a good size so I changed it to new leash but it got broke ,and I ended up swimming back to the shore.
When it got the best swell and size, monster sets roll in back to back, many people broke their boards and leashes and got washed up to the shore. That wave got serious power.
There are other breaks around POPOYO such as Lances Left and Playgrounds, both are left breaks and basically accessed by boat.(There should be ways to drive there, but I could not find it)
Lances Left is best at low tide, mellow and long break. But when it gets big swell and get double overhead size, it will be rippable, solid shoulder. I was able to have one real good long ride on big day, probably 200+ meter ride.
Playgrounds was my favorite, best at mid to high tide. it got rippable good shoulder and barrel too. I got lucky with swell, I surfed 2 good swell in 2 weeks. A guy stayed there for 6 month told me that it was the best swell since he came.
So I got swell lucky again after El salvador.
Unfortunately, when swell hit POPOYO, I could not find photographer so those photos are after swells.
When POPOYO get real swell, it was scary break. it was powerful, hollow, heavy break. And the lip was really thick too. When clean-up set came in, there were 20 people in the lineup. After that, only 3 was able to stay in the position and everybody else got washed away.
Once wave breaks, duckdive could not do a thing and I got thrown like being in a washing machine.
波がサイズあったので、ほぼ新品のリーシュに交換するも見事に切れてしまい泳いで岸に戻るのでクタクタに。 炸裂した日にはお化けセットが入った後には次々と折れた板や、リーシュが切れた板が打ち上がって破壊力を見せつけられました。
POPOYO ポポヨ以外にもLances Left, Playgrounds というロングライド可能な極上レフトがボートでアクセス可能です。
Lances Leftはロータイドがベスト メローなロングライド可能なブレイク しかしスウェルが入った時のダブルくらいのセットに乗るときっちりショルダーがはってきて最高でした。
Playgroundsはmid to Highがベストタイドでした。 きっちり張ってくる良い波です。一番好みの波かも。
スウェルについては２つのスウェルを２週間で味わうことができて最高でした。半年滞在している人でも
「今回のスウェルが半年いた中でベストだ、お前はラッキーだな」
と言われました。エルサルバドルに続いてあたりまくり。日頃の行いかな。
残念ながらスウェル直撃した日は写真お願いするのを忘れてました。
本気のポポヨはとんでもない迫力、超パワフルかつホローなドロップ、リップの厚さが尋常じゃない。 クローズ気味のお化けセットが入ったら、２０人いたラインナップが３人だけに。波がブレイクしてしまった後だとダックダイブしても板を持っている事が全然できない位パワフル。

たまたまラッキーでほぼ貸切だった日 （3回くらい行きましたがこの日以外は結構混んでました）
I got lucky and it was almost private session on that day.
POPOYO got size down on that day, it did not have much power.

As wave was small, 7 year old girl was surfing at POPOYO.
I heard that this girl moved here with parents and competing at contests in central america.

It looks like a lot of development is underway. Next to our hotel, there will be nice hotel which will be around $100/night staff said.
Not just this hotel, many other construction is happening this area.
開発がこれから急速に進みそう。宿の隣にも新しくて一泊＄１００程度の宿がオープンするようです。色んなところで工事が進んでいる印象。
After getting out of water, I happened to get surrounded by strayed cows and was able to feel great nature in Nicaragua during my time there.
Next, I will go down to Costa Rica. Hopefully I can make it to Witchs Rock and Ollies point where Endless Summer 2 was filmed.
海から上がって宿に帰る途中に野生の牛に囲まれたりとポポヨの大自然を満喫できました。
次はコスタリカに南下します！ エンドレスサマー２の舞台になったWitchs RockとOlliesにもできればいきたいところ。
